Series Introduction: Relationships

No matter how introverted you can be, you need relationships. At the very core of who we are, is this need for community, fellowship and belonging. As humans, we cannot fully exist without the connection another human brings to the soul. Yes, most of us are very capable on our own but after some time, we need to feel the love of another. Whether it’s a romantic interest you’ve sought after or simply a stranger you hit it off with at the supermarket, you and I need relationships.

Throughout the month of July, my writers and I will be diving into relationships — of all kinds. We won’t just be discussing the cliché lovey-dovey romances of our lives, but the unspoken, less discussed relationships that mark our everyday.

We are not designed to walk alone, so I would encourage you to join us as we bring forth stories of connections we’ve been inspired by, hurt by, challenged by, and beautifully loved by. As women, we are natural born caregivers. That trait translates into our ability to nurture and invest in those around us. This could very well bring us the utmost fulfillment yet, also the greatest moments of exhaustion. If we’re not careful to harness our love and the energy we put into others, we will deplete our own supply of self-affection.

Take a moment to think about the relationships you’ve had in your life. What are the first ones that come to mind? Perhaps it’s family, your spouse, your kids, or that person who wronged you. We tend to remember those we feel most impacted by, both positively and negatively. Whether you’re aware of it or not, your story is very much shaped by those you allow into your life — and your heart.

My hope this month is that you welcome a new perspective on relationships. Maybe you’ll find it within yourself to brave the unknown and step out of your comfort zone to meet new people. Or possibly, you’ll begin to harness a fresh affection for those in your life — finally seeing their worth and value in a much deeper way.

As you come alongside us during this series, I invite you to share your experiences in relationships and what it’s taught you. Your voice of wisdom and truth brings the kinds of stories Crowned Chics is all about. So come, read our words and tell your own. I treasure the relationship you and I have right now — even if it is simply an internet affair.
